Jefferson County Towns Our West Virginia Movers Serve
Each part of the county comes with its own moving-day questions. Here is how we look at them.
Harpers Ferry and Halltown
Lower Town Harpers Ferry is a designated historic preservation area inside Harpers Ferry National Historical Park. The National Park Service describes metered street parking and park parking in Lower Town as extremely limited, and its lots are often full. Metered street parking in Lower Town is monitored by the town of Harpers Ferry. Most park visitors leave their cars at the Visitor Center on Shoreline Drive off US 340 and ride a shuttle in. If you live in or near Lower Town, tell us early. We will look at where the truck can stand and whether a weekday works better than a weekend, when park lots fill early.
Shepherdstown
Shepherdstown is home to Shepherd University, and the whole town has been part of a National Register historic district since a 1987 boundary expansion. German Street, the main street, still has 19th-century street furniture, including metal fences, mounting blocks, wooden pumps, and mature trees. Many pre-Revolutionary War buildings still stand in town. Those details can limit how close a truck can park to the front door, and older homes may have narrow stairs and low doorways. Mention any oversized pieces at the estimate so we can plan how they come out and go in. If you are moving near campus, check the university calendar so your date doesn’t fall on a student move-in weekend.
Charles Town and Ranson
Charles Town and Ranson cover in-town streets and the surrounding subdivisions. From Charles Town, US 340 runs north to Harpers Ferry, the route the National Park Service gives for travel between the two. Tell us about street parking, HOA move rules, or a tight driveway at the estimate so the quote reflects the site. If you are moving into a new build, share the closing or move-in date as soon as you have it, since builder schedules can shift.
Kearneysville, Shenandoah Junction, and the Rural Towns
Kearneysville, Shenandoah Junction, Bakerton, Millville, Rippon, and Summit Point round out the county list. Some of these names are mailing areas rather than incorporated towns, so when you request a quote, give us your full street address instead of the town name. Rural properties can come with long lanes or gravel drives, and knowing that in advance helps us plan the load. If the property has a gate, a private bridge, or a shared lane with neighbors, include that in your request too. Moves between farms and town lots can take longer than the mileage suggests, so ask about timing when you request your quote.
