Reserving the Curb: What Alexandria Movers Plan First
Most Alexandria movers first need to secure street parking. The City of Alexandria lets residents reserve up to five on-street spaces for a move through its Permits Office using APEX. Applications are due by 12 noon, three full business days before the date you need the spaces, with weekends and holidays excluded. Late requests are not accepted.
The city charges $10 per No Parking sign per day and does not refund signs unless they were never posted. Put in your request as soon as your date is firm, then give your move coordinator the approved block and times.
Old Town takes the most planning. Many of its 18th- and 19th-century brick rowhouses predate the automobile and depend on permit street parking, and parts of the city fall inside residential permit parking districts. A reserved curb space keeps the truck as close to your door as the block allows.
Moving Within Alexandria or Across State Lines
Moves inside Alexandria and to nearby Northern Virginia cities are local moves. Moves to D.C., Maryland, or farther run under US DOT 1767696 and MC648853. You keep the same move coordinator either way.
